Wolfpack Harriers Give Good Effort at Wayne Invitational

Wolfpack Harriers Give Good Effort at Wayne Invitational

The Tri County Northeast Wolfpack ran the Wayne Country Club course on Monday, September 16th.  The Wolfpack entered the day battling illness, as one runner stayed home, and two others competed while not feeling full strength.

The course ran a little slower than usual for most due to strong wind and heat.  The clouds were a welcome visitor at race time.

One athlete claimed a medal on the day.  Senior Bre Millard ran to a 10th place finish in a time of 23:00.20.  A pair of freshmen running mates, Hailey Millard finished 32nd with a personal best time of 28:06.12 and Chloe Peters posted a 35th place finish also posting a personal best time of 28:36.96.  Jenni Olson rounded out the team with a 42nd place finish in 31:22.56.

On the boy’s side, Jude Ridenour posted a 30th place finish in a time of 21:02.76.  Alex Snyder and Devon Lewellen were not far behind running 21:57.4 (37th) and 22:35.88 (41st) respectively in the 65-runner field.

Next action for the Wolfpack will be Thursday, September 19th at the Pender Invitational (Twin Creeks Golf Course).  Meet time is 4:30 p.m.

COACHES COMMENTS:

“The athletes competed well today.  A medalist and two personal bests were a great start to the meet.  The boys’ team continues to push and has developed some consistency as of late and will now be looking to break through to the next level of improvement.  Hopefully we will be healthy and at full strength Thursday.  The coaches appreciate the efforts of athletes to run the course even when not 100%.  Good Job Team.”
