Tri County Northeast girls gather Lewis & Clark conference X-C runner-up

The Tri County Northeast girls’ cross-country team gathered the Lewis & Clark Conference runner-up trophy on Friday at the Rolling Hills Golf Course at Wausa.

The result wasn’t easy as the Bloomfield-Wausa posed the challenge to Lady Wolfpack.  All five of the Wolfpack runners impacted the outcome.

Junior, Alejandra Hermosillo, finished third in the race with a time of 22:24.98.  Senior, Bre Millard finished fourth with a time of 22:31.53.

Where the team race shook out was in the third, fourth and fifth runners for the Wolfpack, as freshmen, Chloe Peters ripped off a personal best time of 24:54, to gather 16th place.  Junior Jenni Olson came in 22nd, recording a time of 26:01, which was a season best time for Olson.  Freshman, Hailey Millard posted a time of 26:33.78.  The younger Millard’s time was also a personal best.

The Wolfpack placed third in the concurrent Bloomfield Invite only trailing Norfolk for the runner-up position by 3 points.

On the boys’ side of the day, freshman Jude Ridenour collected a 14th place medal in the Bloomfield Invite portion, posting a time of 19:02.37.  Teammates, Alex Snyder just missed a medal, placing 16th with a time of 19:06.44.  Senior Devon Lewellen ran a career best time of 20:46.59 cutting nearly 30 seconds off his prior best.

Next action for the Wolfpack teams will be Thursday at the district meet at Pender.  The boys will run first on Thursday.  The first race begins at 4:30 with the girl’s race following.

COACHES COMMENTS:

“The teams performed very well today.  5 of the 8 athletes reached season or career bests which was very pleasing to see.  It shows the hard work that they have put in, to date, and the competitive edge they have built.  The district meet will be the true test of what our athletes are made of as no one assured of qualifying for the state meet without a truly great performance.  It is going to be exciting to see how the athletes do at the district meet.  Good Luck at districts.  Congratulations on the team runner-up at Conference.”
