Tri County Northeast Duo Run Well at State Meet in Kearney
Tri County Northeast duo run well at state meet in Kearney…………..
Two runners for the Tri County Northeast cross-country team took part in the Class D state meet in Kearney on Friday, October 25th, at the Kearney Country Club.
Both runners ran well for the Wolfpack on a course that was very trying due to the very step hills the course presented.
Junior, Alejandra Hermosillo posted a time of 22:28.6, good for 58th in a field of 121 girl runners. It was the second-best time of the year for Hermosillo, who posted her career best just one week earlier at the district meet. It also marked a vast improvement from Hermosillo’s time at the 2023 state meet by 2 minutes.
Sophomore Jude Ridenour posted his second-best time ever, running 18:46.9. Ridenour finished 70th in the 124-boy field. Ridenour had just posted a career-best time of 18:32 one week earlier at the district meet of 18:32. The result at Kearney was impressive due to the nature of the course at Kearney compared to that of the district meet.
Even more encouraging is that both athletes will get another shot to improve their time on a very difficult course in 2025 if they continue to improve during the next 11 months.
COACHES COMMENTS:
“Both athletes had very good runs on the toughest course they ran on all year long. The meet was highly competitive and even with tremendous effort, the athletes were somewhat disappointed in their overall standing. Nonetheless, they left it on the course and challenged themselves. That’s what this is all about. The coaches were very pleased with the effort both runners gave. The coaches are sure that they will work to make it even better in 2025. Congratulations on a great season Alejandra and Jude!”
