TCNE Wolfpack Sweeps Walthill BluJays; Loses to Panthers in Triangular
The Tri County Northeast Wolfpack volleyball team started the Walthill triangular on a strong note, sweeping the BluJays in straight sets, 25-11 and 25-9, to secure a 2-0 victory.
TCNE dominated offensively, recording 22 kills and an impressive .444 team hitting percentage. Senior Joslyn Mackling led the attack with eight kills, followed by sophomore Delaney Fuchser with five. Senior Briley Anderson and sophomore Cora Ridenour each contributed four kills, while junior setter Ally Belt added one.
The Pack’s serving game proved to be a major factor in the victory, as they tallied 12 service aces. Ridenour led the team with five aces, followed by Belt with four and Anderson with two. Senior Jayda Stallbaum added another ace. Belt also led the team with 12 service points, helping TCNE maintain control throughout the match.
Defensively, the Wolfpack collected 19 digs, with senior Emily Mitchell and Belt leading the way with four apiece. Mackling, Stallbaum, Anderson, senior Aubrey Mitchell, and Ridenour each added two digs. Belt also recorded the team's lone solo block.
Belt directed the Wolfpack offense with an impressive 18 assists, while Mackling and Anderson contributed one each.
The convincing victory showcased TCNE's balanced offensive attack, aggressive serving, and solid defensive play as the Wolfpack opened triangular competition with a commanding sweep of the BluJays.
The Wolfpack volleyball team then battled with the Lady Panthers of Bancroft-Rosalie with a hard-fought 1-2 loss. After dropping the opening set 8-25, the Wolfpack battled back to claim the second set 25-20 before falling in a thrilling third set, 29-31.
Sophomore Cora Ridenour led the Wolfpack offense with nine kills, followed closely by senior Joslyn Mackling with eight. Senior Briley Anderson contributed six kills, while sophomore Delaney Fuchser added five. Junior Ally Belt directed the offense with an impressive 26 assists as TCNE finished with 31 team kills.
At the service line, Anderson led the Wolfpack with two aces, while Ridenour and senior Jayda Stallbaum each added one. Belt contributed nine service points, followed by Anderson with six and Ridenour with five.
Defensively, Fuchser made her presence felt at the net with three solo blocks, while Anderson and Stallbaum each recorded a block assist. Senior Emily Mitchell led the team in serve receive passes with 19 receptions, while Mackling handled 24 and Ridenour added 20.
