The Tri County Northeast Wolfpack faced a tough Howells-Dodge squad in the second match of the Pender Triangular on Tuesday, September 8, falling to the Jaguars in straight sets, 25-14 and 25-11.
Offensively, senior Joslyn Mackling led the Wolfpack with five kills on 30 attacks while also contributing a team-high seven digs. Junior Ally Belt added three kills on three attempts for a perfect 1.000 hitting percentage and directed the offense with nine assists.
Senior Briley Anderson and sophomore Cora Ridenour each recorded two kills, while sophomore DeLaney Fuchser added one kill and provided the team's biggest presence at the net with two solo blocks. Defensively, Ridenour finished with four digs, while Emily Mitchell, Carlee Stanley, Anderson and Belt each collected three.
At the service line, Mitchell recorded the Wolfpack's lone ace. TCNE was perfect from the line as a team, successfully putting all 26 of its serves in play without a service error.
The Wolfpack closed out the Pender Triangular with a 2-0 loss to the host the Pender Lady Pendragons. Pender took the opening set 25-15 before the Wolfpack battled closer in the second, ultimately falling 25-22.
Senior Joslyn Mackling led the TCNE attack with nine kills while also recording a team-high nine digs. Sophomore DeLaney Fuchser added five kills on 10 attacks, while Briley Anderson contributed two kills. Junior setter Ally Belt directed the Wolfpack offense with 15 assists and added seven digs.
TCNE finished with 35 digs as a team, with Emily Mitchell adding five and Cora Ridenour four. At the service line, the Wolfpack recorded four aces, with Mitchell, Jayda Stallbaum, Anderson and Aubrey Mitchell each collecting one.
The loss capped a challenging night for the Wolfpack but they look forward to facing the Lady Pendragons again later in the season.
