Wolfpack Season Ends Against Top-Ranked Knights in C2-4 Subdistrict Play
The postseason road came to a close Tuesday night for the Tri County Northeast Wolfpack as they faced a tall task against top-ranked Norfolk Catholic in the second round of the C2-4 Subdistrict Tournament.
Playing on the Knights’ home floor, TCNE battled early but ultimately fell 91-36 to a Norfolk Catholic squad that entered the subdistricts as the number 1 seed, ranked No. 1 with a 21-4 record.
The Wolfpack came out competing in the opening quarter and trailed just 20-12 after the first eight minutes. Norfolk Catholic began to create separation in the second quarter, using defensive pressure and transition offense to extend its lead to 49-26 at halftime.
The Knights continued their surge in the third quarter, outscoring TCNE 29-3 to put the game out of reach before closing out the 55-point victory.
Tri County Northeast, which finished the season 6-21, showed resilience throughout the postseason, including Monday’s 64-44 first-round subdistrict win over Homer at Norfolk Catholic High School. However, facing the top seed proved to be a much steeper challenge.
Despite the loss, the Wolfpack’s postseason appearance marked a positive step forward. Competing in the C2-4 Subdistrict bracket and earning a first-round victory highlighted the team’s growth and determination down the stretch.
With several underclassmen gaining valuable tournament experience, Tri County Northeast will look to build on that foundation heading into the offseason and working towards goals for next season.
